Urban Woman Magazine In BBC Media Workshop
A month ago, they had the opportunity of being in Abuja for a 2-day BBC workshop under the Strengthening Citizens Engagement in
Electoral Processes (SCEEP) Project, funded by DFID.
One of the aims of this workshop was to discuss ways of increasing the involvement of youths and women in electoral processes in Nigeria.
The workshop had more than 30 media personnel in attendance from different parts of Nigeria.
Among the speakers present were:
Funke Baruwa, a gender and development practitioner;
Blessing Timidi, an activist for sexual reproductive health and rights for adolescent girls;
Samson Itodo, an activist for #NotTooYoungToRun;
It was a great experience for us, as we got to interact and add our opinion to issues being debated at the workshop.
Editor In Chief, Urban Woman Magazine, Blessing Iyamadiken, was also on stage to discuss ways to involve women and youths from Kano State in electoral processes.
